GP Registrar Position available 2016
GPTT Training Position at Don Medical Clinic 2016
Don Medical Clinic has a FT/PT, GP3/4 , position available that incorporates extended skills in Adolescent Health .
The practice was established in 2014 , as a hub of learning. The practice was initially based on campus at Don College in 2013, and then expanded to establish a main practice in the Devonport CBD, whilst continuing the branch practice on campus during school terms.
Don College is an educational institution for grade 11 and 12 students and has a community of 1000 staff/students.
The current registrar is working 8 sessions, and one of those is based at the Don College on campus clinic. The patient base ranges from birth to aged patients, it is not solely adolescent presentations. The practice is well linked with many services providers in the community that support all ages. Dr Cooper is on the steering committee that manages the HUB program at the Junction, that works along side HEADSPACE.
There is set weekly teaching that incorporates adolescent and general practice issues. There is also day-to-day on the run teaching and support. There is no on call commitment. There will be a full patient load for a registrar commencing in February 2016, hence guaranteeing income.
There are opportunities to teach medical students.UTAS allocate one 4th year medical student weekly as part of the general practice training. There are also students attached to the on campus clinic as part of the mental health unit of training for 4th year students.
The practice is small and currently has 2 FTE doctors; it has capacity to have 3 FTE. The smaller practice provides the opportunity to engage and become more familiar with practice management issues.
Dr Cooper has been a medical educator with GPTT for over 10 years; she has also been an examiner with the RACGP for the fellowship exams and has conducted regular pre exam workshops for local GP registrars. She is currently completing her FARGP and Graduate Certificate in Teaching for Health Professionals at UTAS.
This is a vibrant and innovative learning and teaching practice,
